Can I breed cherry barbs and golden zebra danios in the same tank?
I put a female ( I think) golden zebra danio in a 5-10 gallon tank. I noticed that my male cherry barb was nudging and chasing the female so I put the female cherry barb in. I can’t get the famale danio out. Would both species breed if I put the males in tomorrow night? All of the fish have been conditioned for at least 1 week on freeze dried bloodworms and frozen brine shrimp.
You can, but you’re going to have to upgrade to at least a 40g tank. I’m not sure how you don’t know what size your tank is, because there’s a noticeable difference between smaller tanks. It’s only with larger tanks it gets more confusing to guess the exact size.
One school of zebra danios will thrive in at least a 30g tank, same with the cherry barbs. If you want to combine them and allow them to school in one tank, I don’t recommend anything under a 40g.
You should have at least two females for every one male in order for them to breed properly.
